Naturally, you’d want a little help from people who really know what they’re doing. And let’s also say that you’re throwing an absolutely massive weekend-long party for thousands of kids that will feature some of your latest, greatest artists. And then let’s also say that you need a band to provide the live music just before your big headline event. Who would you call?

Well, its probably no surprise that Disney and This Is It Productions called StarFish. I mean, the greatest rock band in the world... for kids, obviously, is the way to go for something like this. We rocked the Ultrasonic Super Fantastic Kids Day Weekend like no other band could (which is easy because no other band has a guitar player named Moose) and we had a great time doin’ it! This was the first show where we performed AntFarm’s new reggae song “Sick Day” and it was very well received. Channel 9 News was on hand to document our incredible magnificence, not to mention our gracious humility. Can’t wait until next year!

National Night Out 2008

One of the reasons that StarFish gets asked to play gigs like National Night Out is because we’re just, well, so incredibly manly. When a potential criminal opens up a fine newspaper like the News-Record of Maplewood and South Orange and sees a picture of us rockin’ for National Night Out, that person will probably think, “Hang on, this event is no joke. If those way-cool rockin’ dudes are involved, then I should probably rethink this whole criminal thing and maybe take up another hobby like, oh, air guitar or something.”

So, yeah, 500 people showed up. Some of them may have actually known about National Night Out, although most were probably drawn by the irresistable rock star pheromones that surround us. Stay tuned for announcements about our forthcoming fragrance, “Rank.” In order to make the first batch, we’re all going to skip showering for a couple of weeks and then we have to scrape our... okay, I’m making that part up.

You see that poster up there? That’s a poster for what was probably the greatest show we’ve played so far. And that’s really saying something, because every show we do is, like, unbelievably spectacular. Not only is the State Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ a huge and gorgeous venue; not only were there about 475 people in the house; not only did we have smoke machines, incredible lighting, bubble machines and confetti cannon... we also shot a video! That’s right, we shot our very first video during and after this show, and we are so excited about it! Our song Stop, Drop, and Rock & Roll is being made into a really cool video and hopefully we’ll have it finished in a month or so. According to certain staff members at the theater, we were much better than ABBA, who played there a few nights before us. Well, um, YEAH, duh! That’s because we ROCK!

Stay tuned for more news of StarFish as we (humbly) take over the world of music for kids!

This, folks, is a picture of the very finest rock band in the entire universe... for kids. The ever-popular and always-fun Maplewoodstock music festival in Maplewood, NJ – our home turf – was as good as ever this year. The weather was perfect, the crowd was huge and enthusiastic, and StarFish was particularly good, which is to say, almost impossibly amazing. Major kudos to all the other bands who were brave enough to appear on the same stage as us, including two stand-outs: a new, edgy band for grown-ups called Thursday Habit, and the well-known and absolutely fantastic Aztec Two-Step! I would also like to extend a particularly warm thank-you to whoever invented the bubble machine.
